Am now invested in becoming a decent chess player after learning about the succession of schools of chess theory.

Seeing how domain knowledge accretes over time makes it easier to engage fields that would otherwise seem too complex to approach.

Look, a lot of relationships, romantic or platonic, don’t last that long. Even so, a good general rule of thumb re: anybody you would spend time with for the sake of their company is to try your best to leave them in better condition than you found them.
