This article is extremely important.

Reminds me when I saw a 2-hour documentary skeptical of the holocaust. Went looking for counterarguments and mostly found people saying "oh those horrible antisemitic people"

(the video showed no hint of antisemitism)

A hilariously sad self own by China’s police and propaganda department: state TV shows an “anti-terrorism” exercise. The terrorist? A man with a placard protesting about wage theft by his employer. twitter.com/fangshimin/status/

A video from @AndrewPerpetua shows very refreshing Russian tactics near Vuhledar. In this tutorial they show how to bypass mines. Very clever movement.

One reason to be skeptical is that there are various stories about Wagner killing its own troops (e.g. for desertion).

If they want to help Putin out with psyops, they could round up a few Wagnerites they intended to kill anyway, but then dress up the executioner as Ukrainian.

And... it's not that Scott Alexander doesn't care about truth or truthseeking, right? But somehow lying or bullshitting isn't a big enough deal to him that he would think about that when when he thinks of Trump.

It's weird.

Or "Mexico will pay for the wall." Or "Global warming is a hoax invented by the Chinese." There were people dedicated to making lists of his lies.

So this is weird, right? For me this is THE reason to hate Trump. For Scott Alexander it doesn't even make his shortlist.

"single, pithy, irrefutable reason to hate Trump."

In my mind there was one very clear, important and specific reason.

He lied constantly. Or at least bullshitted. He'd just say any old shit and insist it was true. Like "thousands in New Jersey cheered for the 9/11 attacks".

Scott Alexander baffles me sometimes. Because we agree about so many things, but then out of nowhere he'll say something bothersome/do something dumb.

Here we have a very tame example, but one that seems important. He talks about Trump's negative qualities but says there's no

Never send an architect to do an engineer's job.

Also, this is nuts?! A tall building fell over like a yard sign in the wind, but did NOT crumble when it hit the ground! Probably lots of survivors?

I hate it when Ukrainians commit war crimes. It's not a good look.

This looks like a big one. I can't confirm it's true and I don't know the location or context around it, but an earlier tweet seems to say Wagner already has a suspect in custody, whom they are torturing.
