RIP Ryuichi Sakamoto.

He was my first experience with ~classical music that I really adored.

Discovered him in on a Sam Ray mixtape for FADER, sandwiched between Hannah Diamond and Tunji Ige.

initial thoughts:
- burden of expectation
- liking things is complicated
- preference for independent discovery (and ownership of taste)
- state changes are hard
- music is used mostly for emotional regulation these days, you're inviting someone else to alter your emotional state

loaded a website, all the elements were placed slightly wrong, looked like they were falling apart

it was gorgeous and inspired

was drafting a tweet about how it's everything i loved in web design, reloaded the page, and it looked normal, everything in place. it was a bug lol

why is it so hard to engage with people online about music? why is it so bad so often?

Rest in peace.

"Conceptually, I am open to mistakes -errors, actually. I do play lots of wrong notes while I am making some music & a mistake or a wrong note is like a gift for me: 'Oh, wow an unknown sound or an unknown harmony. I didn't know about this.:

they call it gradient descent, T. it’s how they make those big fucking computer brains, like that ChatGTP thing that meadow uses for her homework. who knows, it could get like 10 times smarter than humans, and then it might whack us all

many people i talk to have convinced themselves that they can't live an honest life

and yet they yearn to live an honest life, and i feel as though many of their problems come from this mismatch

always amazed when someone else’s preference perfectly balances out my own

oh, you like to talk more than listen? you like the inner brownie pieces more than the edges?

arc on mobile is a weirdly mid experience so far considering it’s not a beta release:
- the Getting Started links don’t even load on mobile
- you can pin the same url infinite times into the same space, can’t unpin in same interface
- can’t access spaces w/o closing current tab

if i posted a youtube link and promised it was harry potter balenciaga 2 which just dropped a few minutes ago, definitely not rick astley, would you believe me and click it?

About 5 years ago I set a rule for myself to only talk about politics if 1 of 4 specific conditions were true. This stopped 95% of my political conversations and I live in nonpartisan utopia now.

when a famous podcaster asks who they should interview next, the fans of the podcaster and the would-be interviewee reach out like tendrils, communicating chemically with one another, attempting to pull their hosts into contact
