turning off automated xposting, realizing it was an antipattern mostly (even as someone who occasionally uses both mastodon)

if you are trying to disrupt an industry, learning too much about it can make it harder to oppose

infohazards exist and they’re usually very small and even can be helpful to other people

thorny situation? just aspire to act in a way you'd be proud of when you die and it'll all work out well enough lmao

my own two cents:

i think the right one to do is the one that better trains you to respond in the way that you endorse. everything is practice for everything else.

not sure which one that is though

what's more awkward?
1. replying awkwardly to someone's tweet
2. deleting that reply and replacing it with something chiller, but they might get two notifications

this means fully understanding what makes these prosocial moves succeed, and what makes it hard for people to execute on them!

i have my own pile of successes and failures, but alas i am only one person, and would love to hear about a wide variety of experiences

i'm writing a big reference doc about how to invite people to hang out, throw parties, introduce yourself to others, check in on friends, navigate ghosting, and generally perform prosocial moves without being really really weird about it

if you have thoughts about the best way to throw parties, host events, invite people to hang, or build community, and are down to share them, please reply or DM me!

if you have socially bombed at a party or event, and are down to talk about it, please reply/DM!

modded Elden Ring to make all the NPCs neutral. now I can play it as it was meant to be played: riding around the grasslands, sharing a campfire with sad soldiers, observing the native wildlife, and cooking fun meals with my crafting kit.

joking aside, my suspicion is that fewer and fewer people are reading these texts (though i couldn't find data on this). IMO it's necessary and good to present them in whatever form excites the public imagination, & then you can work from there towards more accurate translations

Bark Text-to-Audio Model

Full Text Input: "Why was six afraid of seven?"

Ignore Bark's "I'm done with this input" token and tell Bark to just keep generating more audio anyway.

it's a low bar folks. one essay and one non-essay on your own website. i believe in you

coming back to this mantra again and again, sharing in case helpful:

this now is real. there are no now’s that are any more real than this now.

you always only exist right now. your life is real.

this now is no less real than any other nows. this now is real.
