The environmental damage from a proof-of-work cryptocurrency is based on market price, so to fix it you need to crash the price. Buying is bad since it bids the price up. Selling is good. Holding is neutral in itself since it doesn’t participate in setting the price, but if we want to make it crash sooner rather than later, then we want holders to sell. A 10% wealth tax on holding would convince legitimate businesses that pay their taxes to sell, so it should help?

irony is sort of a memetic vaccine; you ingest a weakened form of an idea, act it out w/o letting it control you, & in the process gain some resistance to it

irony poisoning is an autoimmune disorder; that same immune system now attacks your ability to sincerely hold beliefs

"Heh, remember iframes?" you chuckle to yourself, reminiscing, "remember those?"

Your coworker looks at you with a quizzical look. "Iframes? We still use those all over the site."

You glance at the calendar. It is 2006.

"Oh-Oh no.." You stammer.

"Anyway, it looks like we're gonna have to take those transparent PNGs off the homepage," your coworker continues, "it looks like internet explorer doesn't support them."

You would scream, but only bonzi buddy would hear

I've run a big text adventure for thirteen years (at one point briefly it was the biggest text adventure!) and if there's one thing I've about managing a big online community in that time that I'd choose to pass on as a warning to others, it's this: remove the people who don't like being there.

Some folks just don't like the place, or they liked it once and they don't anymore, and that's fine.

You'd think they'd just go somewhere else, and most do, but some don't, and those folks are AWFUL.
