If you need to renew your license in person MA requires an appointment, and the RMV is overloaded. The soonest appointment within an hour drive of my house is 26d out, and within an hour on transit is 42d out. Compare with 9d in 2021 and 11d in 2022. Probably resolved: I've signed up for AAA and booked an appointment at one of their locations
AAA worked out: I now have a temporary and my replacement license to come through in about a week
