For my brother in-law:

Your bizarre behavior has caused a split in the family. Now I need to decide if I'm going to invite my brother or my sister to an event, and that is terrible.

Fuck you.

For my younger son:

You need to learn to understand that the system has predictable responses to certain actions, and not take those actions.

You also need to be your own advocate to fix the problems that are affecting you.

For a year and a half I have been advocating for the passage of federal legislation that would regulate the prison telecom industry and the prices these corporations can charge families with incarcerated loved ones. It was an uphill climb and especially as we got closer to the end of the 117th Congress, but it passed the Senate on 12/21 and passed the House on 12/22.
May this bill be a step towards greater phone justice for families that have incarcerated loved ones.

For my elder son:

Your utter unwillingness to actually do your school work will dog you for years. I wish you would bite the bullet of doing it now rather than the bullet of flunking.

Perhaps losing your sports eligibility will be a wakeup call?

For my current client:

After your previous shop dropped you, after several people quit, how have you not realized you're the problem here?

I'm glad our contrast is ending soon. Maybe you'll bother to get someone who actually cares about the product you're allegedly developing.

For my Ex:

You remain a terrible parent to our children.

You still haven't refinanced the house. (In progress, I know, but still!)

For @vgr

How dare you be locked on Festivus! You're throwing a wrench in the works here!

It's a Festivus for the rest of us.

Gather round the pole!

The tradition of Festivus begins with the airing of grievances:

I got a lot of problems with you people and now you're gonna hear about them.

@vgr is locked, so I cannot QT his Festivus pole. I saved the image.

I have purged my Weird Sun Twitter list.

(Removing Suns that don't post and people who have rebranded.)

If you know of any live Suns that aren't on this list, please let me know.

Let's talk about LastPass.

Earlier this year, I reported a cryptographic weakness to LastPass on BugCrowd.

(No, I'm not going to disclose what it is here.)

As you may know from my blog, reporting cryptographic issues in BugCrowd was a path fraught with peril. soatok.blog/2022/06/14/when-so

So, I'm finding out the hard way that if you start a new Mastodon server, nobody can find you.

This is a shameless request for some boosts so some of the bigger instances see me.

Also not that it matters but I am continuing to use "Mastodon" to describe the particular bit of the Fediverse visible from Mastodon Dot Social and "Fediverse" for the whole disconnected graph of federatable software. (Although tbh part of that is the word "Fediverse" rubs me the wrong way for some reason. Also considering how widely blocked it is, perhaps "Mastodon" shouldn't include Mastodon Dot Social.)

If you defederate Mastodon.social from your ActivityPub instance is that called a Mastectomy

I have reduced my inner monologue by 90%+ over the last decade.

Me: have they approved season four yet?

1000 SEO farms: here's everything we know about season four. (Nothing.)
