In 7th grade, my friends and I convinced a large number of students to put the name “Heywood Jablome” in the school raffle and when the principal read the name in the gym, we all screamed for five straight minutes. Everyone got a detention. That’s how Twitter feels now.

just had the mental image of elon musk sobbing in a running tesla in a closed garage. waiting for release that will never come.

Sex is a sacred act between a man and my wife.

Seamos sinceros: Twitter tocó techo con estos tuits. Desde entonces, todo ha ido a peor. No merece la pena quedarse.

It makes me very sad to hear that Chanda Prescod-Weinstein is leaving Mastodon, but it's also understandable

In the months I've been on here, there's been a lot of things that I think are really good about the fediverse, such as the lack of ego, the fact that it's a much calmer space than Twitter - these past few days, ever time I long back in there I just end up in a rage over the apologists of Carolina Sanín, that the algorithm keeps trying to send promote to me, and when I log back in here, things are much calmer. I understand that there's real concerns about what the influx of new users means to the existing fediverse culture, especially when dealing with celebrities and journalists and other people who are used to unidirectional communication. That it's an extremely queer and neurodiverse space, that there's concerns about normies coming in.

But there's bad things about the existing fediverse culture, too, and one of them is that my god is this an incredibly white space. Like so white. So very very white. Why is it that many American and British mutuals I had have successfully moved over to the fediverse, but nearly every Mexican mutual has abandoned it? Why are a lot of Black people going back to Twitter, as toxic as Twitter can be? What things about the fediverse culture need to change so that it stops being whiter than the audience at a Pavement reunion gig?

Weird starship names generated by neural net software.

Yes, they sound like something out of an Iain Banks "The Culture" novel
