Scott Alexander baffles me sometimes. Because we agree about so many things, but then out of nowhere he'll say something bothersome/do something dumb.

In my mind there was one very clear, important and specific reason.

He lied constantly. Or at least bullshitted. He'd just say any old shit and insist it was true. Like "thousands in New Jersey cheered for the 9/11 attacks".

Or "Mexico will pay for the wall." Or "Global warming is a hoax invented by the Chinese." There were people dedicated to making lists of his lies.

So this is weird, right? For me this is THE reason to hate Trump. For Scott Alexander it doesn't even make his shortlist.

And... it's not that Scott Alexander doesn't care about truth or truthseeking, right? But somehow lying or bullshitting isn't a big enough deal to him that he would think about that when when he thinks of Trump.

It's weird.
