i have so much sympathy for babies on planes. imagine if someone put you in a pressurized metal tube, an incomprehensible voice pierces your eardrums, staticky and glitchy, in a language you don’t understand. your head feels like it’s exploding. the floor rumbles beneath you

your throat starts hurting from the change in humidity. your body uses up all of its adrenaline and you become extremely hungry, which makes you more anxious and irritable

most importantly, you don’t know why any of this is happening. you are suffering without a narrative. god is striking down at you, it seems. other children are crying. surely they are crying for good reason. the air is afflicted and thin

you can’t even parse some shapes properly. even the most mundane stimulus is overwhelming and incomprehensible. and now you’re being asked to brave something a hundred times worse. why would you? how could you? your ears throb in pain
