negotiation question:
i was told a salary bracket at the start of the interview process and their first offer is in the bracket's middle
how do i word this question better? "$X is interesting, but not quite where we'd need to be, do you have any flexibility around that number?"
more context: they offered Y options but didn't provide any info on total authorized options so it's basically a fake number, and i need clarity on that too, possibly before asking for salary stuff
@empathy2000 Prob too late, but if you agreed to their bracket and they then gave you a number in the middle, you now have an unspoken new bracket, with a higher floor. A lot depends on where you want to be in that range, and how much you value the options.
