When you stand up from a couch and look behind you, is the "left" and "right" of the couch now swapped in your head? Is that correct? Or does the couch work like shoes, where it intrinsically has a left and a right based on the viewpoint of those sitting in it, and the views of outside observers don't count? Is Butt-Head sitting on the right or the left of the couch?

@ifixcoinops it seems ambiguous enough that you need to clarify with “left side of the picture” versus “on your left,” if it matters. For a car you could say “sitting in the left seat.”
