i liked this change of framing i found: instead of only saying "you just bought a new electronic device, how you dare? >:(", what about saying "ok, so now how can we make sure it lasts for 20+ years?"
buying new electronic devices with a similar commitment of what would be expected when adopting pets, and/or having kids (?)
