the point of the sandia report wasn’t anything so pedestrian as sticking up a road sign with their “this is not a place of honour” poem on it

the poem was just inspiration for the ideas of what to put at the site

after all anyone who can still read that poem could read an instructional sign that explains radiation, or just grab a preserved pre-catastrophe physics textbook

anyone who can’t instead sees square miles of salted concrete with spikes that play painful ultrasonic notes when the wind blows through them or something idk
