as a foreigner it's interesting to note that attending top universities is so expensive that it's almost as unaffordable to middle-class westerners as it is for us third-worlders

i once wished my father would be just a tiny bit less honest so that he could pay for me to go to college abroad, and then later one of his friends who owns a mansion in singapore got caught up in a corruption case lol

ofc with the caveat that "middle class" by rich country standards comfortably puts you at the top 1-2% of poor countries

but then, top state unis in indonesia (which are better than private) cost around 7.5 to 15 million rupiah which is around 600 - 1400 usd, with many getting even cheaper than that

seems insanely cheap in comparison

with a degree from such schools you can pretty easily snag white collar work at the capital with comfortable quality of life that is at least within top 5% of population. car, mortgage, kids def affordable

i.e. seems like pretty good bang for ur buck

ok the pay is dogshit by western standards but i can get lunch for like 2 bucks and rent in the metropolitan area for like 200-700 usd/month depending on ur living standards

sometimes its almost like? i'm getting a better deal?? weird, not sure if this is right

probably off on some of my estimates idk

nvm there were many things i didnt consider

basically the answer for everything is just - cultural capital lmao
