so maybe giving better tools/"solutions" to everyone can actually have the opposite of an equalizing/democratizing effect, despite intentions to accomplish otherwise

"twitter is a dating site" says person for whom the entirety of life is workable as a dating site

in any case people who are able to comfortably navigate these things become winners in both games, online & offline

there are good reasons for those rules which are obvious to some but not others & we will not get into them

from what i can tell this is maybe the biggest hurdle in dating for many  because the rules are that you are not allowed to explicitly communicate certain intentions without the appropriate context

the reason twitter is *not* a dating website despite what some would claim is because it doesnt perform the core service a dating site does: providing the shared context/ informational symmetry that everyone is looking for a date
