Alistair's First Law of Hyperbolic Limitation:
Before anything can qualify as genocide it must first qualify as decimation.
Logically, must first qualify as “attempted” decimation.
@cerebrate @zarpaulus well I’m pretty sure that when the civilian death toll exceeds the membership of the organization you’re professing to fight, you’ve lost all plausible deniability
Or possibly the hush-hush asymmetrical warfare wing of said organization was not entirely honest and transparent about their membership rolls.
I, myself, am a paragon of such virtues, and yet I must expect to be quite correctly disbelieved when I tell people that I am the sole member of my entirely harmless Anti-Coercion Book, Crochet, and Plastique-Filled Piroshki Club.
(I am, but that's really not the point.)
@cerebrate @zarpaulus Said the concentration camp overseers in the Boer Wars.
Also, not to put too fine a point on it and if we reduce it to numbers, if your rate of killing your target group is _at least_ a full order of magnitude below their birth rate, you must be committing the worst genocide I've ever heard of.
Now, admittedly, I may be leaning into stereotypes here, but one thing even their worst detractors never call the Jews is 'inept'.
Given the choice between a scenario in which they have defied all ethics and ethnic history to choose evil *and* are staggeringly, cosmically, couldn’t-assemble-a-blitzkrieg-in-a-Panzer-factory *bad* at it, and one in which they simply *aren’t doing that*…
…what does Occam say?
@cerebrate @zarpaulus
You said it, not me.
If so, that’s how you can tell that Netanyahu’s government and the IDF are not “the Jews”.
Remember when Benny neutered the supreme court to avoid bribery charges? Or when the IDF had to add a bottle opener to their rifles because conscripts kept ruining their magazines opening beer bottles?
Isn't this Zeno's Dichotomy Paradox? Smells like a quick paint job.
@cerebrate And “attempted” genocide?
