people like steve hsu talk about removing mutational load, and that that will create much more healthy & intelligent individuals.

BUT if you just replace rare variants with common ones, wouldn't you also remove rare *slightly advantageous* variants, and just end up with an average animal?

maybe the solution is that most random mutations are just harmful, and beneficial mutations are quite uncommon & reach fixation reasonably quickly, so removing rare mutations is good on avg
