One thing that I wish more of my friends understood about my foray in crypto:

This is an attempt to create scalable economies that don't depend on a cop with a gun and a jail.

Blockchains are not yet solving that problem the way I can fully get behind, and they have enabled lots of stuff I deeply dislike. But they have made progress on the basic problem in ways I haven't seen elsewhere.
