reminder that you have no obligation to save anyone else, even if you have the capacity to do so. you're not responsible for other people, and you're not a bad person if you choose not to. you don't have to stretch yourself thin helping others. you can just live your own life.

you're worth more than the value you provide to others. you don't have to always clean up other people's messes for them. just because you *can* does not mean you are *required* to. it's okay to feel sympathy or empathy but then take no action to help. really.

also: you don't have to take people at face value when they describe what they're going through emotionally. don't assume you know better than they do, of course, but don't assume they have a full grasp on it, either. people exaggerate sometimes, for different reasons.
