which is, the phenomenon wherein a significant portion of an individual's process of cognition extends outside of their self & into the interactions with their social neighbors, mediated through iterated interactions
consciousness arose out of these iterated social interactions, as we learned to model our own selves by simulating interactions with others; this is where the Minsky "society of mind" originates
