while material scarcity remains (& it still does, esp. considering logistical difficulties), it's simply delusional to imagine that its possible to operate a civilization w/o "unfair" distinctions based on the lottery of birth; some people are much more skilled than others
how do we decide who should be in charge of various critical functions w/o discrimination? would you be okay w/ your surgeon being picked from the population at random?
perhaps if we accept reality, rather than ignore it, we can work to improve on it
