the interesting thing here is not the specific question, but rather the epistemetic dynamics at play; note that those w/ a more nuanced position did not have their minds changed by the prevailing winds; polarizing beliefs are subject to social contagion, & hence are to be avoided

if a majority of people who hold a certain position can be made to reverse it, w/o a meaningful change in the relevant evidence, does not that imply that the position was not supported by the evidence at all?
