does he mean "the entire timeline generation system comprised of multiple services & data pipelines" or does he mean "one very small & specific comparator used in a relatively inconsequential subcomponent of this aforementioned system"?

at-scale systems rarely have their logic centralized in such a legible way, but rather are diffuse, the overall "algorithm" being an emergent property of the coordinated behavior of many actors
ofc they could have built it in such a way as to enable this. but p sure they didn't
