I think for me there's a pretty clear line between people who I can get along with (most people) and people who don't exhaust me (sufficiently quickly) socially (very few people).
Nearly all people in that second group I've met through EA or LW. Or-

they were the few weirdos who I'd meet at a party. I often felt like they had this yearning for the kind of connection and intimacy that I also wanted. They were also like kinda nerdy and often well-read too.
I've been wanting to find more people like this, and I'm still not sure how much it's (1) ppl like this are clustered into certain groups, (2) ppl like this are rare, (3) you don't need friendships like this to be happy.
The polls seem to suggest that people here think it's the first or the second, which coheres with my intuitions. I'm glad to have such a representative sample of *checks notes* 10s of people who are in tpot.
