Humans are an existential threat to wolves.
Should a wolf be happy that domesticated dogs are so successful? They are descended from wolves, after all.
Hmm...
Do dogs value the same things as wolves? Maybe, I guess. So much of wolves lives are taken up ensuing adequate food, which dogs don't have to do.
Maybe without the need to hunt, canines focus on socializing and play. Maybe wild wolves would call that a victory. It kind of sounds like the early utopian Communists, in a way.
To which the answer might be /probably/ and with a lot less general anxiety if we accept the model of dogs as Everpup Wolves.
