Kid: how is conscientiousness different from motivation?
Me: uh.
I wouldn't say different, but a subset. there are several different kinds of motivations, and conscientiousness is one of them.
@WomanCorn conscientiousness is a character trait, motivation is more like an emotion
I would say conscientiousness is doing something because you know you should whereas motivation can mean that but it can also mean doing something because you want to.
