@mwlucas I love how fantastically wrong a lot of it is too, unusual for an XKCD. Discord, Slack, and Reddit apparently support user run instances now? And the Fediverse—sorry, “Mastodon”—requires a single centralized server to work???
@mwlucas At first I thought “does not require central server” meant that it's peer to peer, not federated; but then IRC has a check in that column despite being federated, and arguably more centralized than other stuff on that list because most networks don't allow arbitrary servers on the network and have centralized NickServ and ChanServ services
