Because this has come up on mastodon discord, more advice for other white dude server admins:
You need to believe the victims when blocking servers.
If trans folks tell you a server is transphobic, block it.
If black folks tell you a server is racist, block it.
Don't wait until you see "evidence". Harassers and bigots are only going to show you their good side.

@fuzzychef this implies a certain kind of relationship between the server admin and the server users.
That your users would prefer to be shielded from certain ugliness at the cost of their access to some other people.
Make sure you put the fact that you'll be acting in loco parentis for your users in your instance about page.
