I expect the failure mode to look like email spam. Open relays being squeezed out of the network.

I meant more the relays as servers but not as holders of identity. That's a nice middle ground between fedi and Sone.

@WomanCorn For me, the only improvement over fedi would be a proper P2P network that interopts with the current Web.

Identities there are (of course) public keys.
