I kinda feel like fears about fedi getting Eternal September'd are kind of overblown. fedi is really not a distinct community that could be ruined by an influx of new users, it's a loose network of different communities where the people you choose to interact with it literally codified in the form of what gets federated to your server. if you don't like the normies, you can just choose to not interact with them and not let them onto your instance. in extreme cases you can fediblock as well

I maintain that having a more diverse group of people on fedi other than fossbros, chuds, and anti-chuds would ultimately be a good thing
I used to want as many people as possible on the Fediverse even if they were annoying, I changed my mind.
Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli’ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holla boys, Holla boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
And what should we do with him? Burn him!

Happy Bonfire/Fireworks night, fedi!

let me get this straight.

all 7000 twitter employees had direct production access, and y’all are worried about a mastodon admin reading your dms?

What's cohost got that a Mastodon instance doesn't?

I saw someone confuse etymology and entomology, and it bugged me in a way I couldn't put into words.

It's common for people to say the Nazis were actually leftists, and for Tankies to get mad about it.

Today, I saw a White Nationalist get mad about it.

Hmm.

One thing that I like about Twitter is the way it makes clear that you're seeing a reply deep in a thread.

Mastodon doesn't make that super clear. (Not sure if the problem is Mastodon or Tusky, but it's not great on either.)

Kid: how is conscientiousness different from motivation?

Me: uh.

Lol, I have managed to configure Tusky such that I can't get to the configuration tab anymore.

Trying Tusky for my fediverse poasting this time around.

Last time I used the PWA, which was fine.

I am too lazy to figure out which clients aligned on which side of the drama last time.

Bridge setup:

Top posts work in both directions.

Twitter replies to Mastodon top posts are bridged to Mastodon.

Mastodon replies to Twitter top posts are _not_ bridged to Twitter.

(Unclear if this is my misconfiguration, or just a limitation of the tool.)

Testing if the bridge is back up. This was posted on Twitter.
