one of the biggest philosophical reversals that I ever experienced as an adult was realising how this exact rhetoric had been weaponised by Generation X and Millennials, in the same breath as they became exactly what they so loudly despised.

I’m a Zoomer. my generation doesn’t have this rhetoric to lean on, because we don’t give a fuck what everyone else thinks about how hard it is on us or not.
but as I looked around at all the *actual* Baby Boomers and saw how they truly were, I realised that this was a mistake.
I cannot get over how cold, bloodless, lifeless and self-righteous Generations X and Y have become.
I find that it’s actually debilitating to the economy due to aggregation of this force. Their brains have been broken by the modern world and they have nowhere to run to.
I’ve befriended conservative boomers who spent 30 years working for the state after Nam. Same for liberal boomers who are vaxxed and proud right now. I was *business partners* with a boomer.
It isn’t just me. They’re a lot more open and interested in people than Gen X ever was.
If the Boomers had their chance to be self-righteous sticks in the mud it would have been right now. but they didn’t do that.
they became “old fashioned” for still giving people the time of day. they were the last people who didn’t engage in ghosting and status-driven ritualism.
if anything, the “crime” of the Boomers was that they were given a free ride, and younger people were simply jealous of that.
except now we actually have lost everything, because WW2 is long over. the generations in between have 0 responsibility for this loss
