According to the last poll I saw, over 50% of Republicans and over 60% of Democrats believe that the First Amendment guarantees us too many rights; i.e., that when it comes to civil liberties, we need less of them.
Anyway, tell me again how voting for your major party will protect us all from the scourge of fascism?

Assuming your view is correct, then the basic argument is this:
One party wants fascism in January, and the other party is willing to give you a few more years to plan your response.

If that datum is correct - and it's a poll, so we have adequate room to hope that it isn't - then I think our energies are much better spent on figuring out how to live in a country run by and for a slim majority of Nazi shitheads.
