At £700 for the #PS5Pro, consoles are becoming less appealing as affordable gaming options, especially with their closed ecosystems. I can understand the appeal for something like the Nintendo #Switch, which offers a unique library of games. But when it comes to #PlayStation and #Xbox, their offerings aren’t all that different from what you can get on PC. At that price point, you can already build a decent gaming PC that gives you access to the same titles. #gaming

The appeal of a console, though, is specifically that it _isn't_ a PC (and maybe _because_ of its closed ecosystem).

For me at least, the killer advantage of my Xbox is that it doesn't subject me to either mostly-video driver hell, or whatever phone-home rootkit bullshit is this week's anti-piracy/anti-cheat silver bullet. It just works, and I never have to debug it.

(I got too old for that a good 25 years ago.)
