@matthewgraybosch The case I worry about is that it ends up like email, where the big players aggressively block smaller ones because they're overwhelmingly spam. That tends to be the convergent state of decentralized protocols unless there's some better way of handling it.

the combination of intransigence and technical incompetence militates against any good-faith interpretation

@dedicating_ruckus @matthewgraybosch I don't think so. Too many idealists work in those places. You don't go work on email unless you believe in it.

@moultano @matthewgraybosch@mastodon.world if the idealists working on email had had any positive effect, I would expect that e.g. Apple's default email client would not be causing people to miss vital connections by spam-filtering the replies to their messages
