Made a third batch of sugar wax today, this time with a candy thermometer and no stirring

Will try it tomorrow, see if it finally works

Okay hmm. This time it was too hard. Currently attempting to add a couple percent water back in with the microwave, tentatively hopeful

Okay it's far more usable, but also a bit too sticky and kinda... wet? Like there's a layer of much more watery sugar on the surface, it not homogenous

Scooped out a glob and put the rest in the fridge to hopefully dry it out some

Oh gosh the glob did not get any less sticky with handling that was a disaster

So glad this just washes off with water

Now you may be thinking "Xenia this sounds like a nightmare just buy some or suck it up and use your epilator" and you may be right, but it's too late, I've Committed To The Bit

Okay, new plan if waiting around for it to dry doesn't work (and I'm not optimistic)

Heat it up enough in the microwave to be pourable, pour it into the saucepan again, heat it up till the boiling point is the correct temperature, pour it back into the thing it's in now

Okay I did that

Wondering if maybe my problem the second time was the thermometer reporting a lower temperature than it actually was because the bulb was only partially submerged?

That happened this time but luckily I double-checked it with my instant read thermometer

Oh my God I hate this stuff it's still too fucking sticky

Okay maybe not? I guess I misunderstood what the consistency was supposed to be? Idk I still might want to get some cloth strips because I just kind of hate sticky stuff on my fingers
