the internet in general, and social media in particular, creates a rather unprecedented situation; the place where you go to vent your private frustrations, the things you get fed up with slowly over many days, the place is a megaphone directed at potentially. millions of people

I don't think we appreciate how truly weird this is, compared to pretty much the entirety of history up till now; an audience like this has typically been the privilege of the powerful, using it in mostly calculated ways

this, however, broadcasts your worst moments to everyone

ofc, a person's worst moments are... rather unflattering, & when they already seem to represent a class of people that generate much resentment, is it any wonder that this sort of rant, which in theory should be no more than a diary entry, is used to confirm preconceived notions?

I don't really disagree with her in the abstract, & let's be real, she's a child, reacting to microaggressions in the ways a child does; demanding that the world revolve around her and accommodate her preferences

she'll likely grow out of it
but that's not how this is perceived

this rant, coming from a person with this presentation, is uplifted into an effigy of sorts, a caricature of The Enemy, the tribe on the other side of the culture way; and while there are indeed many who think this way... this is a child's tantrum; should we really care about it?
