from a narrative metaphysics standpoint this makes perfect sense (ignoring the actual factual truth)
the choices really are "invest in your progeny as the continuation of yourself" or "invest in continuing your mortal existence for as long as possible"

I recognize there's a good bit of doublethink implicit to that plan, but for the sake of my spirit I deeply need to believe in & pursue both
which is why I'm getting rich enough to afford to sink many billions into longevity & uploading tech whilst not neglecting progeny
