autism, among other pathologies, predisposes you to retreat into logic from an overstimulating, incomprehensible world; in this way, it is a shield and spear, a powerful set of tools to arm one's mind with in the fight against chaos

cosign this; it's hard to get an idea of who you are when all I see are RTs in your profile. even the inane shitposts help give me some reason to follow

assuming that's something you're interested in, ofc

hey you, person who RTs a lot of stuff. I'd love to see some of your tweets, too. real, personal thoughts, just out there. more people are interested in them than you probably think 👀

the period between developing taste and learning how to use it properly is a self-made hell of misplaced priorities

incredibly based; someone's got to do this shit, and liberals discomfort w/ the idea is just coddled squeamishness. you think your lifestyle could exist without missile programmers?

Service employee asked about my tattoo. When I said I'm a programmer they asked how much I make (good) and then said they want to learn to write code for missiles because *explosion hand gesture* (bad)

it's a bit odd sounding, but this word, epistemetic, fits a gap I perceive in the discourse, referring to memetic epistemics, ie how the status of a piece of knowledge is influenced by memetic dynamics. is there an existing, better word for this? perhaps I'm missing an obvious 1

if a majority of people who hold a certain position can be made to reverse it, w/o a meaningful change in the relevant evidence, does not that imply that the position was not supported by the evidence at all?

the interesting thing here is not the specific question, but rather the epistemetic dynamics at play; note that those w/ a more nuanced position did not have their minds changed by the prevailing winds; polarizing beliefs are subject to social contagion, & hence are to be avoided

but it sure sounds good, doesn't it? if some asshole rattled that off to you at a house party wouldn't you start watching your wallet more carefully around them?

Inhabiting a single ideology allows others to simulate you accurately; this has consequences for your theory of mind

as such, procuring tomatoes thru the fruit of one's own labors (so to speak), necessitates an anti-capitalist ontology and set of material interrelations, a direct relationship with the means of production, and hence the earth-mother itself

this is all ofc Marxist nonsense

tomato (food) vs tomato (plant)

does not the former entail an entirely dialectic than the latter? a food tomato carries with it an entire set lifestyle implications and economic roles, and hence informs a radically different ideological position, used to justify the status quo

Show thread

consider, for example, the case of the humble tomato; is not one's relationship to it path dependent? when you purchase one at the store, as opposed to picking it from a plant which you tended to yourself, your material relationship to the tomato is quite different, ontologically
