beliefs are tools our brain uses to trick us to do things

been thinking about this for a week straight

I have been informed this was a "bad take"
apologies for being optimistic 😔

@eigenrobot @AlexGodofsky can be charming and clever but fundamentally dishonest. (note that I very very rarely ever talk shit about anyone.) Went on a rabbithole once looking up his old writing and the responses people had. Not a person of honor, does not pass apocalypse test twitter.com/visakanv/status/10

this was my motto for several of the hardest years of my life; it was on repeat in the background of my mind basically 24/7, as I struggled to understand who I was, my place in the world, my vision for the future, and the path for arriving at it. all we can ever do is change.

Show thread

the only thing any of us can do is work to become the person we need to be in order to accomplish what must be done

RT @ne0agent1c
there's plenty of vision just few of you want to commit

you want families, but do you want to build yourselves to be the kind of person to support a family by your own will? no, most of you reflexively whine and complain about how the govt isn't doing enough to give you a gf twitter.com/chernaya…

fantastic writeup of a custom home power monitoring solution (raspis w/ custom pcb) featuring PER-BREAKER attribution, which is something I've looked for but haven't found elsewhere. super impressive what is possible to DIY.

Hi, I created a power monitoring app using Raspberry Pi 3 A+ boards. There's a writeup here:

but once the terminal is up there it's the normal space elevator problem, you can use thrusters or inertia. just thinking about launch here.

Show thread

hm; thinking about whether this launch mechanism would be suitable for getting a space elevator bootstrapped. could you yeet the cable terminals into orbit? you'd need a cable spool capable of unwinding fast enough to not slow down the terminal, and a way of anchoring in orbit

Show thread

ultimately it comes down to mindset; optimist or pessimist? positive or zero-sum? value-creation or pie-splitting? growth mindset or fixed? learning experience or fuckup?

mostly every single problem boils down to your attitude; will you focus on the past or the future?

i'm absolutely getting nerdsniped here but this is v exciting and i'm inspired af to see these sort of large-scale experiments in new technologies

we've barely even begun the space race; so much more left to solve before we realize our spacefaring fate

launch angle articulation.... does that mean this method can take advantage of a larger range of launch windows? i imagine only being able to launch straight up limits that; but would the larger aerodynamic drag experienced under an angled launch outweigh those benefits?

bro and this is just a 1/3rd scale model

biggest fuckin carnival gravitron ride ever

what the hell this is absolutely insane

just fuckin pitch the rocket into space
legitimately exiting and innovate damn

v curious as to how they manage the pressure transition, and how many Gs the human occupants would experience

but wow I've straight up never thought of this

RT @0x5a2fc8
I don’t use a debugger because 1. I always write perfect code 2. I can use my brain to tell where other people made mistakes 3. I don’t know how
