@aquarial The end result is similar though - you keep doing the thing you're addicted to even though you don't enjoy it. I'm not saying everyone is *addicted* to (e.g.) coconut water, but I think we might be addicted to that texture of experience. (2/2)
@aquarial I don't think it's exactly the same - for example, I think withdrawal is key to (my understanding of) classic model addiction. And while that would produce a similar pattern of ups and downs, I think it's complicated by the fact that the ups come about as part of an explicit attempt to get out of the downs. (1/2)
@aquarial Glad you like it! The link to the jhanas is a good point - a state of pure bliss seems like exactly the kind of thing that would be amazing the first few times but quickly get old.
