well i got the last bit of my vpn routing set up. ip forwarding and trust the tun0 interface at the firewall and it's comfy as heck

the thing that sent me down this rabbit trail was cisco 'umbrella' nanny software on public wifi nets blocks a lot of legit stuff and labels it malware, including openvpn.net, shockingly enough.

cisco wants you using their vpn software i guess

Cisco's own VPN tool has a filter built-in that automatically detects, blocks, and reports Bad Stuff, so it's fine. 👀
