But that's ok, because the point isn't the arriving, it's the going. I think it's about living a life which feels meaningful, and WANTING to do unpleasant things because they feel meaningful to you. So your values don't need to be constant.

I'm thinking meaning is similar to this: You have some best guesses right now about what is meaningful, and that's all that's required for you to move in a direction. And on the way you may learn things or you may change yourself, and then your direction changes.

In Legend of Zelda there's no one quest line for you to do. It's an open world you're encouraged to explore. You'll see something in the distance and think "ooh I want to go there" and start heading in that direction, but on the way you might see something else and change quests.

My friend described "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" to me recently and it's resonating with me in terms of how I think about my Tortle's Search For Meaning quest.
