Robot revolution, bioweapons

Just a reminder: a superintelligent AI takeover of the Earth would either be a seemingly instantaneous event (prepared in secret) OR would be largely driven by incredibly deadly bioweapons.

Such an enemy would be immune to bioweapons and would find them ideal. Salting the Earth with deadly spores that can stay in the soil for centuries would render the Earth uninhabitable to humans.

The humans could also be tricked into spreading the weapon and blaming each other...

@urusan Why would an AI want to destroy all humans though? Unless it has the ability to totally autonomously produce as many robotic agents as it needs, it seems like an economic and political control (or more direct means such as food/water supply control) as a means of getting humans to do what it wants would be more likely.

@nytpu @urusan Furthermore, why would an AI want anything weird at all? Nothing just naturally has these tendencies.

@tomosaigon @nytpu I beg to differ, all life kills other life as part of the natural processes of living.

Even primary producers such as toxic algal blooms and trees which blot out the sun for other plants are constantly killing other life.

Not to mention the bacteria and fungi which will happily eat all living things without vigilant defense

Those of us at the top of the pyramid sometimes forget this

Thus it would be weird for new life to not be deadly

@urusan @nytpu I would also beg to differ. I can't speak for all life but I haven't yet seen any reason that synthetic life must kill to exist.

@tomosaigon @urusan @nytpu the robots don't want to kill you, it's just that you're made of atoms that could be put to better use
