@mattparlmer All that long-distance running finally came in handy

@StevenFan I hope that's the end game. Group chats are nice for up to a couple dozen participants but any sense of unified discussion breaks down beyond that.

Finally muted notifications on the Signal groupchat and it's a huge quality of life improvement.

@roguewpa @pee_zombie I guess that's better than nothing, but if someone just automatically crossposts their tweets here, that's no guarantee they'll see replies here, so I have no incentive to engage with them.

@pee_zombie have you thought about reaching out directly to anyone on Twitter and asking if they would be willing to move their posting here? It's a bit quiet still.

Same thing happened the last two times I quit Facebook (2013 and 2014, for a few weeks only each time), so the feeling isn't unfamiliar but remains embarrassing.

I finally deactivated my Facebook and Instagram accounts today, and it's thrown into sharp relief how much of my use of them was just physical reflex. I've caught myself several times in a moment of boredom unthinkingly making the muscle movements to open a new tab and start typing "inst" in the address bar, without any conscious desire to actually see what was on Instagram.
