According to the last poll I saw, over 50% of Republicans and over 60% of Democrats believe that the First Amendment guarantees us too many rights; i.e., that when it comes to civil liberties, we need less of them.

Anyway, tell me again how voting for your major party will protect us all from the scourge of fascism?

Ironically, in my SF my major protagonist polity does maintain the position of "freedom to speak is not freedom to deceive", which is a very appealing position when you have a blank sheet of paper and imaginary people.

Here and now? I am _absolutely_ confident that nothing could please the serial pathological liar class more than giving them the authority to define legally-permissible truthiness.
