@ricci

I have self-testing alarms that report the results to my automation server, so I test the self-testing every few months instead.

Europeans can now be comforted to know that all social scoring will be carried out by the traditional natural intelligences, famed throughout space and time for their complete lack of unfortunate biases and nonexistent error rate.

Let me just say, for the record, that I *really* don't like "weird" having been politically co-opted. The weird I love has always been of the Al Yankovic variety. I have a very vivid eighth-grade memory of being told by a girl that I was weird and responding with a very proud "THANK YOU" and taking it as a compliment of the highest order even though that clearly wasn't the intent. By all means, keep using it however you see fit - but using it to cast aspersions doesn't sit well with me. At all.

For the first time, I can feel the long-term secular language change slipping through my fingers...

This place is a place of honor... some great shit is commemorated here... this place slaps.

What is here was dope af to us. This message is hype about swag.

It's such a banger that it is still present, in your time, as it was in ours.

The form of the rizz is an emanation of vibes.

In fairness to the Alliance Cruiser, it looks like a committee was given "make it look like a flying city" as design directions and implemented that using all the least potentially offensive or risky decisions they could possibly take.

Which is, I wager, within a *millo* of the actual Alliance ship design process.

Mission accomplished.

@Dandelion

I'm guessing both.

But I make no estimate of which one was more important.

Pretty sure I am on every watchlist ever now, though. And quite glad that I'd already decided not to try and fly anywhere for unrelated reasons.

Just saw:

390 — If the FBI were to look through your computer, would you be concerned about your search history? What’s the worst / weirdest thing you’ve ever had to research for a story?

Well, you know, they did - noiseinmysignal.substack.com/p - and I'm still here. 😂

One of my few regrets in demanding my lawyer up front is not getting to learn what they thought of my several gigabytes of notes on interesting chemistry, SFnal weapons, alternate government forms, etc., etc.

@izaya

By curious coincidence, last night I have discovered a similar phenomenon with Stellaris.

Finally, I thought, I have enough RAM for it not to lag horribly in the late mid-game... and now, oh look, a dozen extra fleets later it runs right into the CPU wall.

Insofar as there are troll farms out there trying to convince people not to vote, I most vigorously despise them for ruining the reputation of those of us merely rich and redolent with righteous contempt.

Can't a man just despise some motherfuckers any more?

re: psa on "dont vote", uspol

@cinebox @izaya

(To clarify, this is not a commentary on either candidate's position in terms of politics, merely that they're both civilization-destroying shitheads I'd rather cut out my spleen with a wooden spoon than empower even trivially to wreak more ruin.)

To use a metaphor:

I'm Poland in 1939, and you're asking me to endorse Stalin over Hitler.

Yay?

Evidently the recruitment bots have stumbled onto my fiction, since I'm now getting solicitations for aerospace jobs.
