"How many angels can fit on the head of a pin" is important information about the military capabilities of the enemy.

computational complexity theory of self-modifying code. probably not good for execution speed, but great for code size.

Once the epidemiologists set up their accounts here it's over for all of you

A priori I'd have believed someone telling me that self-modifying code can perform computations non-self-modifying code can't

the heightened prevalence of bike delivery makes western cities just slightly more asean

I kinda feel like fears about fedi getting Eternal September'd are kind of overblown. fedi is really not a distinct community that could be ruined by an influx of new users, it's a loose network of different communities where the people you choose to interact with it literally codified in the form of what gets federated to your server. if you don't like the normies, you can just choose to not interact with them and not let them onto your instance. in extreme cases you can fediblock as well

I maintain that having a more diverse group of people on fedi other than fossbros, chuds, and anti-chuds would ultimately be a good thing

I've been telling people I have a "virtual meditation retreat" today, but I'd rather say I'll be doing [[cybermeditation]].

Thing that bugged me about Don't Look Up is that they didn't restart the calculation in the beginning six times over and instead just accepted it without debugging

Now I want a cut where they realize around 2/3 into the movie they made a mistake calculating and that it's going to miss

Remember, people are more willing to bring their whole selves to Mastodon.

For example, you may have initially started following someone for their weird bullshit, but don't be surprised that they also choose to share their much weirder bullshit too.

I only allow myself to go the hard way. Why? Good or bad?

If agents are usually suffering negative sum games might be good via destruktive warfare

"No, you don't understand, they're not evil, they're playing 4D chess..."

Is conjunctive, the need to be both aligned with you *and* playing 4D chess *and* that needs to be a good idea

So basically Piagets theory predicts extremely advanced humans think about infinity-categories all day
