@dagon you can set unlisted, which functions similarly; there are forks of masto with "local-only" toots which we could explore using if there's sufficient interest. what's yours?

@dagon yeah that's a great point, I'd say this varies depending on the degree to which there is a match between server and community; some servers are just tools, while others are homes for specific groups of people. I don't think schelling.pt has figured out quite what it is just yet!

No urgent need for local-only posts, but very curious about the theory behind Mastodon Federalism. It seems like servers are expected to make some culture and content decisions, but it doesn't matter if the VAST majority of value is cross-server.
Lack of local-only posts (and in fact, if the local-first theory were true, it should be the default) just made me question my understanding of the intent.
