there are myriad positions in between and orthogonal to these, ofc, but most I see in practice tend to cluster around one of these three.

personally I'm a mix of the latter two; more radical than most, but more conservative than many, varying by topic

to be a proper transhumanist you need to be HIGHLY conservative in certain domains; preserving a healthy mind until uploading is possible should be our foremost goal, …

or do you fully buy into radical transhumanist longtermism, committing to certain philosophical principles & their inevitable consequences, for the sake of empowering ourselves to escape mortality & our ancestral home, and colonize the universe?

there are many such attitudes one could adopt; do you go full bioessentialist, as many on the political extremes have, worshipkng the natural form as divine? do you reject the accoutrements of technological civilization & eschew glasses/hearing aids?

typically transhumanism is associated with shiny tech like bionic eyes, animatronic prosthetics, neural mesh, etc. this is a consequence of a dearth of imagination; transcending biology is not about metal and silicon, but rather an attitude towards our power dynamics with nature.

this often escapes notice, that glasses are a cyborg enhancement of the body; using technology to transcend the limitations of our genetic heritage, to become more than we are. what could be more transhumanist?

I've been a staunch supporter of cyborg posthumanism since the first time I put glasses on

in the digital ecology, as attention is sought rather than avoided, mimicry is used for a different purpose; the mimic imitates the form of an attention-attractor, a simulacra, lacking the internal structure of the original. it is a parasite, feeding off the semantic similarity.

damn I'm either bad at history or just never laid attention idk but I just realized I have no idea why the Taliban is supposed to be bad. like I know it's one of those. middle eastern NGOs but idk anything else. kind of don't want to tbh. pls don't tell me.

sir that word isn't rated for the amount of load you're giving it, pls add some semantic crossbeams if you don't want this whole thing to collapse

Make up new words and terms to more specifically identify concepts?

Nah, let's just overload existing terms with new meanings until they can hardly sustain the weight, ready to burst and completely incomprehensive to anyone outside.

this corner of twitter... our corner of twitter... the group that comprises us all... the group we're in... really makes u think there could be a single succinct word to capture this. something about us being in a group. idk. any ideas?

listen to people when they tell you who they are, loudly, repeatedly, when they publicly identify as such, make it a core part of their identity, use it to absolve themselves of responsibility, as the avatar of an egregore. they're telling you the truth you don't want to hear.

the formal study of such problems has yielded a treasure trove of insights, which are, tragically, not available to most

but if you're willing to learn a bit of math, you can unlock them

the tools we've built for ourselves are there for the taking
